Police are investigating a phone scam where a person contacted an elderly woman by phone pretending to be a family member who needed money for bail after being arrested for a DUI in Canada. The caller gave instructions that they needed a moneygram/western union to be sent to Quebec. The elderly woman sent money via moneygram/western union with the information that person provided. The following day the person called again and stated that they needed another amount of money to reenter the country. Being suspicious of this call the woman called her family found the calls to be a scam. Police want people to be aware of the scam and if they were the victim of this to contact their local police department.
