Incident Summary:
On July 15, 2013 at 12:55 am officers were dispatched to the area of Glenhurst and Berkshire Dr. in Shrewsbury Borough for a report of suspicious subjects looking into parked vehicles. Officers arrived and located a Volkswagen Jetta parked in the area with a male subject at the vehicle and another fled on foot.

Officers determined that the Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen on June 19, 2013 to Hellam Twp. Police and the subjects arrived in the stolen vehicle. Officers arrested Mark Anthony Shope Jr., age 30, from Locust St. in Wrightsville, PA.

Southern Regional Police and Pennsylvania State Police searched the area for the subject that fled on foot and were unable to locate the second subject. Officers are working on leads for the second subject. The stolen vehicle was seized and will be searched for stolen items since the department received numerous reports of theft from motor vehicles on the same date and area. Officers were able to see items inside the stolen vehicle that appeared to be recently stolen.

SHOPE was transported to the York County Sheriff's Officer for arraignment on the charges of Receiving Stolen property of a motor vehicle, a felony of the third degree. Shope was arraigned at central booking and committed to York County Prison on $85,000 bail and a York County Probation detainer.
