Incident Summary:
On August 24, 2014 at 02:26 am on E Main St in New Freedom Borough Officers from Southern Regional Police were conducting a traffic stop on a small pickup truck which was operating on the roadway without lights.

While the officer was initially walking up to the truck the driver engaged accelerator and rapidly fled the traffic stop. The truck then fled onto N Constitution Ave at a high rate of speed.

When the officer caught up to the vehicle it was currently swerving rapidly onto and off the sidewalk. It struck the curb with such force it had flattened both driver side tires.

The vehicle turned down an alley coming into close proximity to striking several outbuildings along the road. The vehicle came to rest shortly after where the driver exited the truck and fled on foot. Officers pursued the driver where he refused to stop.

A Taser was used to subdue the suspect and taken into custody. The driver was identified as SHAWN DILL of White Hall MD. It was determined that two occupants were lying in the bed of the pick up truck unrestrained hiding from the officer during the traffic stop. Those passengers also fled the pickup truck at the end of the pursuit. All occupants of the vehicle were located and not injured.

DILL was taken to Central Booking where he was arraigned on the following charges:

Fleeing and Eluding
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Driving without Lights to avoid identification or arrest
Reckless driving
Careless driving
Recklessly endangering another person
Resisting Arrest
Flight to Avoid Apprehension
Disorderly Conduct
Public Drunkenness
Driving with out a License
And multiple traffic offenses

DILL posted $35,000 bail and was ordered to supervised bail
